A Remarkable 2026 Season for Grant Piggott
Share
It has been an incredible 2026 sailing season for GP Sails' Grant Piggott, with success across two very different catamaran classes and some fantastic results shared with his family and sailing teammates.
From winning the Nacra F20 National Championship with Jon Cotgreave, to travelling to the Dart 18 World Championship and becoming Dart 18 National Champion with his granddaughter Ellamay, it has certainly been a season to remember.
2026 Nacra F20 National Champion
One of the major highlights of Grant's season came at the 2026 Nacra F20 National Championships.
Sailing with Jon Cotgreave, Grant put together a fantastic series to take the National Championship title aboard their Nacra F20.
The pair have once again shown their speed and experience in one of the UK's most exciting high-performance catamaran fleets, with another major championship trophy heading home to the GP Sails team.
It is a brilliant result for Grant and Jon and a testament to the hard work, teamwork and experience that they bring to the boat.
Taking on the Dart 18 Worlds
Grant's 2026 season hasn't been limited to the Nacra.
Together with his granddaughter Ellamay, Grant travelled to Carnac, France, to compete at the 2026 Dart 18 World Championship.
The championship brought together Dart 18 sailors from across the international fleet for a week of competitive racing at Carnac Yacht Club.
For Grant and Ellamay, the trip was another opportunity to compete on the international stage and continue their fantastic sailing partnership. (afidart.fr)
2026 Dart 18 National Champions
The season then delivered another very special result for Grant and Ellamay.
Sailing their Dart 18, Golden Oldie, the pair became the 2026 Dart 18 National Champions.
Sharing a National Championship victory with his granddaughter makes this result particularly special and is a brilliant example of what sailing can offer across generations.
Grant brings decades of racing experience to the boat, while Ellamay continues to develop into a highly capable and competitive sailor. Together, they have formed a formidable team and their 2026 National Championship success is a fantastic achievement.
A Season to Remember
To win a National Championship in the Nacra F20 with Jon and then go on to compete at the Dart 18 Worlds before winning another National Championship with granddaughter Ellamay is an extraordinary season.
It also perfectly demonstrates Grant's passion for sailing and competition.
At GP Sails, we are incredibly proud to have someone with Grant's knowledge and experience at the heart of the team.
His continued involvement in competitive sailing means that the experience gained on the racecourse comes straight back into the loft. Understanding sail shape, performance, durability and what sailors need from their equipment is something that only comes from spending time on the water.
Congratulations from Everyone at GP Sails
